Root Canals

What is a Root Canal and why may I need one?

A root canal is a type of endodontic (inside the tooth) treatment is prescribed when the soft inner tissue — or pulp — becomes infected or inflamed. When this happens, quick action is needed to prevent further damage to the pulp to prevent additional pain or the formation of an abscess. The Root Canal procedure allows an Oral Professional to help your inner tooth by preventing additional inflammation or reinfection of the pulp.

After your procedure and recovery, your affected tooth will function normally like the rest of your teeth. You may feel discomfort during the healing process, but this will go away with time.

During your Dental Exam, Dr. Licul may determine that a tooth may need a root canal. If you haven’t scheduled an appointment for this procedure, click here.
